Marathon's Vault Breaker PvE Test Tripled Its Players, Then Sank Back Under 2,100

Bungie's extraction shooter Marathon added a co-op PvE mode called Vault Breaker in late July, sending Runners into the Cryo Archive without enemy players. Steam Charts data shows it tripled concurrent players to a peak near 14,800, but the count has since slid back to roughly 2,070 as the limited mode heads for its August 18 close. Season 3 in September is meant to ship a permanent PvE mode.

Mistfall Hunter's Soul Harvest Season Drops a Free Battle Pass and a Seven-Tier Ranked Ladder

Mistfall Hunter, a fantasy PvPvE extraction shooter where players raid, fight rivals, and try to escape with loot, launched its first big Season 1 content push called Soul Harvest. It went live August 12, two days ahead of the announced August 14 date. The update adds the free Slumbering Contract battle pass, a Path of Glory ranked system with seven tiers, a new Soulgnawer elite enemy, and new weapons and tasks across every map.

Battlefield 6's Top Gun Crossover Brings Back Wake Island and a Free War Week on August 18

EA and DICE launch Phase 2 of Battlefield 6 Season 4 on August 18, headlined by a Top Gun: Maverick crossover. It adds two fighter jets, new air-combat modes, and a remake of the classic Wake Island map on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. A free week of the Top Gun Carrier Strike mode also starts that day. Season 4 already lifted the game past 81,000 concurrent Steam players.

Black Ops 7's Season 05 Reloaded Ends the Zombies Story and Opens Endgame Free on August 20

Activision detailed the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone Season 05 Reloaded mid-season update, arriving August 20 at 9am PT on all platforms. It closes the Black Ops 7 Zombies storyline with the Rex Infernus finale, adds a new Wonder Weapon, Perk-a-Cola, and GobbleGum, and drops the pinball-themed Turbo Tilt multiplayer map. The update also makes the Endgame mode free to play through the rest of the season.

Overwatch Nerfs Its New Tank D.Mon a Day After Launch

Blizzard pushed an Overwatch hotfix on August 12, one day after the new tank D.Mon went live. D.Mon, a second MEKA tank tied to D.Va's lore, got quick tuning: Plasma Saber damage rose from 60 to 65, while Propulsors fuel drain dropped from 40 to 25 and regen went up, changing how long the mobility lasts. Fusion Repeater damage and cooldown were also adjusted, alongside bug fixes.

The Gears of War: E-Day multiplayer beta is open from August 13 at 12pm PT to August 17 at 10am PT on Xbox and PC. E-Day is the prequel set on Emergence Day, the first day of humanity's war against the underground Locust horde.
