Capcom Wants RE Engine to Become an AI Game Engine That Writes Code and Tests Its Own Builds

At its Capcom Open Conference RE: 2026 on October 2, programmer Satoshi Ishida said Capcom plans to evolve RE Engine, used in nearly 30 games since Resident Evil 7, into an "AI game engine" under its REX initiative. AI would generate code and run automated test plays to find bugs. Capcom also plans to release some tech publicly for AI training. VGC reported the talk on October 3.
