Gaijin's Active Matter Launches as a Multiverse Extraction Shooter on PC, PS5, and Xbox

Active Matter, a hardcore PvPvE extraction shooter from Gaijin Entertainment (the War Thunder studio), launched worldwide on September 15, 2026 for Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Runs are raid-based with weapon customization, inventory management, and a fractured multiverse setting. Crossplay ships at launch with three queue options: your platform only, consoles only, or PC plus consoles. A September 17 patch (0.4.0.115) added performance fixes, animation reworks, and UI changes. PvPvE means you fight AI enemies and other players while trying to extract loot.

Discussion Topics

  1. Can any new extraction shooter break through when Tarkov, ARC Raiders, and Arena Breakout already own the genre?
  2. PC and console crossplay: fair fight, or a mouse-and-keyboard tax on controller players?
  3. A performance patch two days after launch: normal cadence, or a sign it shipped early?
  4. Does the multiverse angle add anything, or is it set dressing on a Tarkov clone?
