Kingmakers Resurfaces After a Year of Silence With 12 Minutes of Gameplay and a Steam Playtest

Redemption Road and publisher tinyBuild broke nearly a year of silence on Kingmakers on September 14 with a 12-minute gameplay deep dive and opened sign-ups for a Steam playtest. The third-person shooter drops you into medieval England with assault rifles, grenade launchers, armored SUVs, and helicopter gunships against thousands of AI soldiers in real-time battles, with kingdom building and up to four-player co-op. It was pulled from its 2025 launch at the last minute, and the Early Access release on Steam and Epic still has no date.

  1. Machine guns versus medieval armies: the best dumb idea in shooters, or a joke that runs out after an hour?
  2. A year of silence after a last-minute delay: healthy caution, or a warning sign?
  3. Thousands of AI soldiers on screen: do you believe it runs on a normal PC?
  4. Would you rather Kingmakers ship in Early Access this year or wait for a finished game?
