WARDOGS Pushes a Hotfix at Its Queues and Reverses Its Wrongful Launch Bans

WARDOGS, the tactical shooter from Bulkhead and Team17 that topped 400,000 concurrent Steam players after its September 10 early access launch, shipped a hotfix aimed at the server-join failures and mid-match kicks that swamped its debut. Bulkhead also confirmed that a wave of launch-week bans went out in error, caused by a first-test account-link bug, and said it is reversing them centrally with no action required from players.

  1. 1.25 million sold, servers on fire: is WARDOGS the launch of the year or the cautionary tale of the year?
  2. Wrongful bans at launch: acceptable growing pain, or unforgivable for a paid game?
  3. Would you buy into a broken-at-launch shooter on the promise of a fix?
  4. Bulkhead says do not reinstall and trust the central fix. Do you, or do you hedge?
