WARDOGS Sells 1.25 Million in a Day, Then Its Servers Fall Over

BULKHEAD's 100-player tactical FPS WARDOGS sold 1.25 million copies in under 24 hours of its Steam early access launch on September 10, per the studio. It peaked at 340,171 concurrent players on Steam, and the crush forced servers offline for a couple of hours behind long queues. CEO Joe Brammer called crossing a million copies at launch mental. Console versions are planned for 2028.

  1. 1.25 million copies in a day: real staying power or launch-week curiosity?
  2. Does a 340,000-player peak make WARDOGS a threat to Battlefield 6 and Delta Force?
  3. Are launch server meltdowns forgivable when the game is this popular this fast?
  4. Waiting until 2028 for console: smart focus or leaving money on the table?
