Nvidia's DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction Lands for All RTX Cards With 30 Games Supported

Nvidia released DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction during Gamescom on August 25. Ray Reconstruction is the AI denoiser that cleans up ray-traced and path-traced lighting, and version 4.5 adds about 35 percent more compute and better stability in motion. It works on every RTX GPU, not only the newest cards, and is out now in early access through the Nvidia app (driver 580.88 or newer) across 30 games including Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake 2. A full release is planned for September.

Discussion Topics

  1. Free image-quality boost on old RTX cards: Nvidia being generous or defending DLSS lock-in?
  2. Ray Reconstruction on: can you actually see the difference or is it placebo?
  3. Which of the 30 games are you testing it in first?
  4. Does DLSS keep GPUs relevant longer, or slow down real hardware upgrades?
