007 First Light Passes 4 Million Copies and Makes the Case for Single-Player

IO Interactive announced on August 20 that its James Bond game 007 First Light has sold more than 4 million copies since launching May 27, following 2.7 million in its first week. The Hitman studio casts players as a 26-year-old Bond recruited into MI6. A Nintendo Switch 2 version lands later this year, which should push the total higher.

Discussion Topics

  1. Does 4 million prove big single-player games are still a safe bet?
  2. Is a young-Bond origin story the right call, or should IO stay with Hitman?
  3. Would you buy the Switch 2 version, or is that the one to skip?
