Modern Warfare 4's First Beta Patch Turns Down Footsteps and Nerfs the ISO Nightshade

Infinity Ward pushed Modern Warfare 4's first beta patch on August 22, reacting to opening-weekend feedback. Footstep audio drops in volume and range, and the studio lowered time-to-kill after players said guns killed too fast. The ISO Nightshade SMG loses range and headshot damage, the Oris 8.6 marksman rifle gets a shorter effective range, and Frangible Rounds lose slow effect. The patch also adds a 6v6 map, Cachette, and a new cash-grab mode called Inflation.

  2. Is Infinity Ward actually listening, or patching the loudest complaints for headlines?
  3. ISO Nightshade nerf: deserved, or did they gut the fun gun?
  4. Does a mode called Inflation belong in a beta this early?
