Hunt: Showdown 1896 Sets a 60K Player Record, Then Gets Review Bombed to Mostly Negative

Crytek's PvPvE bounty hunter relaunched as Hunt: Showdown 1896 on August 15, and within two days it set an all-time Steam peak near 60,000 players while its recent reviews crashed to Mostly Negative, about 34% positive over roughly 6,700 posts. Players are angry about the redesigned UI, new stutter, and performance drops on the CryEngine 5.11 rebuild. Critics landed higher, around 80. Crytek also dropped PS4 and Xbox One with the update.

Discussion Topics

  1. Record players and Mostly Negative reviews at once: is this a relaunch win or a self-inflicted mess?
  2. Can a UI redesign alone justify review bombing a game people clearly still play?
  3. Crytek cut PS4 and Xbox One for this. Necessary upgrade or abandoning the base?
  4. Do you trust Crytek to hotfix the stutter fast, or is this the new normal?
