Hunt: Showdown 1896 Goes Live With a New Engine, a Colorado Map, and No More Old-Gen

Crytek's bounty-hunting PvPvE shooter (players versus players and AI monsters) relaunched today, August 15, as Hunt: Showdown 1896 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series. The update moves the game to CryEngine 5.11 with rebuilt visuals and audio, and adds Mammon's Gulch, a Colorado mountain map with 16 compounds. Crytek shut off the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions the same day. Existing owners get the upgrade free.

Discussion Topics

  1. Is dropping PS4 and Xbox One mid-life a fair call, or did Crytek just abandon paying players?
  2. CryEngine 5.11 glow-up, or does it run worse than old Hunt on your rig?
  3. Mammon's Gulch versus the bayou: does Colorado beat the swamp, or is the swamp still king?
  4. Is a rename plus an engine swap enough to pull you back into Hunt in 2026?
