Marathon's Vault Breaker PvE Test Tripled Its Players, Then Sank Back Under 2,100

Bungie's extraction shooter Marathon added a co-op PvE mode called Vault Breaker in late July, sending Runners into the Cryo Archive without enemy players. Steam Charts data shows it tripled concurrent players to a peak near 14,800, but the count has since slid back to roughly 2,070 as the limited mode heads for its August 18 close. Season 3 in September is meant to ship a permanent PvE mode.
