Escape From Tarkov's TarkovTV Lays Out a 'Tarkov 2.0' Rebuild and Two New Maps

Battlestate Games used its August 10 TarkovTV LIVE stream to walk through the road ahead for its hardcore extraction shooter. The studio detailed what it calls Tarkov 2.0, a long-term rebuild aimed at the technical debt left over from the game's 2015-era foundations. That includes a move to the Unity 6 engine to claw back performance on CPU-heavy maps like Streets, two new locations shown off, and a plan to grow the seasonal character system that shipped with Kord Breach into full gameplay modifiers instead of plain profile wipes.

Discussion Topics

  1. Will Unity 6 actually fix Streets, or is 'Tarkov 2.0' another promise that slips a year?
  2. Seasonal modifiers over plain wipes: fresh hook or a gimmick that splits the playerbase?
  3. Two new maps incoming. Does Tarkov need more real estate or better netcode first?
  4. Rebuilding the engine mid-life: brave, or a sign the old code is cooked?
