Game Industry Layoffs Near 10,000 for 2026 With No Sign of Slowing
Confirmed layoffs across the games industry reached 9,781 people by July 26, and analysts now project more than 14,000 job losses by the end of 2026. Recent cuts hit Ubisoft Barcelona (51 people), 11 Bit Studios (20 people), ZA/UM (32 people), and Red Rover Interactive (22 people), with Warner Bros., Ubisoft, and AppLovin flagged as the most concentrated sources of reductions. Ubisoft staff have also gone on strike over the pace and handling of the cuts.
